BOOM! Wasserman Schultz’s political future just blew up COMPLETELY

Debbie Wasserman Schultz had to step down from her post as chair of the DNC under ethical questions — so is it really any surprise that her employees were just as morally dubious?

Enter Imran Awan, Wasserman Schultz’s former IT aide, who has been the subject of a federal investigation for sending hundreds of thousands of dollars to a Middle East nation. Awan was recently arrested as he tried fleeing the country — and now we know he’s as guilty as they come. He and his wife Hina Alvi were indicted on Thursday.

According to the Washington Times,

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s former IT aide Imran Awan was indicted Thursday on four counts including making false statements and conspiracy, Fox News reported.

Mr. Awan and other IT aides have been under suspicion by investigators for months after being accused of stealing equipment and sensitive information from House members’ computers. Many lawmakers had already terminated him from their service, but Ms. Schultz, Florida Democrat and a former Democratic National Committee chairwoman, kept him on the payroll until his arrest.

Mr. Awan was arrested last month at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia trying to board a plane to Pakistan where he allegedly sent the money to his family there.

Ms. Schultz’s decision to keep Mr. Awan on the payroll, despite knowing of a criminal investigation into his activities, has put the Florida Democrat under scrutiny as well. She has dismissed the entire case against Mr. Awan as “right-wing media circus fringe.”

Schultz’s defense doesn’t sound all that different from that of then-first lady Hillary Clinton, who was defending her husband during the Lewinsky scandal. She famously attributed them to a “vast right wing conspiracy.” Apparently that’s her own way of using “alternative facts.”

Now, how much time do you suppose we’ll see devoted to this story over at CNN? Five minutes?

Maybe that’s generous…
