I have 100 Barbie dolls and only dress in pink — I worry it turns off men

She’s a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world — literally.

Katie Loveday, 18, models many aspects of her life after the famous character — she owns more than 100 Barbie and Bratz dolls, dresses in pink from head-to-toe and decorated her bedroom and even her car in the same color.

However, the UK woman fears that her obsession could potentially turn off some potential partners.

“I just expect people I’m dating to walk into my room and think the all-pink is too much,” Loveday told South West News Service.

“I worry most people also want a partner who dresses more chill — while I base my entire look on the Barbies of my childhood,” she continued.

But even though she has that concern, Loveday chooses to embrace her individuality and isn’t letting anything — or anyone — stop her.

Loveday, who is now self-employed and runs her own clothing business, recalled that she has always had a ton of Barbie dolls, ever since she could remember.

She explained that she always received them for her birthdays as a gift and enjoyed dressing herself, as well as the dolls, in pink.

“I had all the limited-edition dolls — like the Dream Wedding Barbie and the one which came with the pink car. I dressed them up in all pink,” Loveday said.

“Mum noticed my obsession and would always buy me pink clothes, as she loves it, too.”

And, since she was a toddler, she always dressed herself entirely in pink — but as Loveday grew up, she found herself wanting to fit in a bit more.

When she was in the sixth grade, she began to transition her style into wearing white T-shirts, white shoes and skinny jeans, calling the look “very basic” and “very plain.”

However, Loveday explained that she didn’t feel too good in those outfits — and missed wearing pink.

“I felt very insecure in those outfits — and I couldn’t understand why,” she said.

“Once I’d finished school and become a more independent person, I realized I didn’t actually look good in any of those clothes — I was just wearing what I thought other people wanted me to wear,” Loveday told SWNS.

So, in 2020, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic when many people in the world were forced into a lockdown in their homes, Loveday decided that she wanted to start “expressing” herself more.

She went back to wearing pink — and it’s a decision that makes her feel complete again.

“Even adding the smallest accents of pink to my makeup — my confidence grew and I felt so much more like myself,” she said.

“I’d got my individuality back.”

Now, Loveday only wears clothes that are pink and spends a “good chunk” of her paycheck each month on different fashion items in the shade.

“If I’m out shopping my eyes just naturally draw to pink things — there’s no point trying to wear anything else,” Loveday explained.

“I shop online for new bits every single day — I have ‘new collection’ alerts on so many of my apps and have even managed to adjust it so it’s only pink clothing.”

Her mom, Alison, 55, is also extremely fond of the color, but mostly opts to wear “baby pink.” She has decorated her home largely in pink, too.

Loveday describes them as a “fashion-oriented family” and revealed that the two of them both love to sew and crochet.

The 18-year-old has taken her love of the color to the next level and has decorated the car, bedroom and home interiors entirely in pink.

And, with the upcoming “Barbie” movie set to hit theatres on July 22, she’s been inspired to paint her blue car pink.

“I need the pink car so badly — all the covers and interiors in my car are pink – but I’m definitely going to be painting the whole thing in the future,” Loveday admitted.

“I’m not even a film person, but I’m so excited for Barbie to come out. Childhood me would go absolutely crazy seeing her style represented onscreen.”

And she’s even begun the hunt for the infamous pink shoes that Margot Robbie, who plays Barbie, wears in the movie.

“I just know when I watch it, I’ll be like: ‘I need that outfit,’” Loveday said. “I’m already trying to find a dupe for those pink shoes.”
