U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is earning enthusiastic praise for her firm “iron fist in a velvet glove” approach to the thugs members of the U.N. and particularly the Security Council.
After last week’s missile attack on Syria, Bolivia – (of all countries) – currently a member of the Security Council, demanded an emergency meeting to discuss America’s actions. But, they demanded the meeting to be held behind closed doors.
Ambassador Haley delivered a brilliant riposte: “Any country that chooses to defend the atrocities of the Syrian regime will have to do so in full public view, for all the world to hear.”
Needless to say, the meeting was open.
Haley, of course, has to deal with the thugs journalists of the mainstream media as well, but she’s doing that expertly as well.
Yesterday, she appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” for a grilling by the ever smug Jake Tapper, who was sure he was delivering a “gotcha” to the ambassador. She of course was having none of it.
Per BizPac Review, “As you know, President Trump used to believe that Congressional approval was needed for any kind of military strike in Syria. I know you’re a fan of his tweets. Here’s one of his tweets from 2013,” Tapper said before showing the tweet where then citizen Donald Trump said President Obama should get approval from Congress before attacking Syria.
Tapper, of course, conveniently ignored the fact that the tweet was sent years before he became president and was privy to intelligence briefings on the situation in Syria.
“If you’re confident that the Assad regime was behind this chemical weapon attack and the possibility of further military action is there, should the Trump administration lay out the evidence, come to Congress and get the specific authorization to use force?” he asked Haley.
The ambassador explained that President Trump did consult Congressional leaders and his cabinet before ordering the strike.
“Well, it depends on the action, but I can tell you that he worked very closely with the leaders in Congress, all of the Cabinet members,” the ambassador said before praising Gen. Mattis and cabinet members.
“I think that’s what you’re going to see this administration do,” Haley said. “The only surprises are going to be to the international community but we’re going to focus on working with everybody.”
