‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ star Melissa Joan Hart stuns fans with ‘crazed’ new selfie: ‘You ok?’

An iconic actress who rose to fame as the star of a hit television show from the 1990s has stunned her fans in a new photo.

Melissa Joan Hart, who played Sabrina Spellman on Sabrina the Teenage Witch from 1996 – 2003, posted a close-up selfie taken on set during her new project.

In stark contrast from her usual glam look, the 47-year-old appeared rather bedraggled, sporting smudged eye makeup and tousled blonde locks.

The “crazed” look on Hart’s face also drew some concern from fans but it was soon revealed she was playing one of the main characters in an upcoming true crime film.

“Felt cute… might delete later! #workmood this #truecrime Monday!” she captioned the image, which racked up thousands of likes and comments.

“Why u look sooooooo CRAAAAZY CUZ????” one asked.

“You ok? You look like you should be in front of the camera as a madwoman!” another said.

“What happened to her?” a third fan questioned.

“This can’t be Sabrina!” another joked.

Hart is currently working on a movie called The Bad Guardian, a fictional film about a woman put under forced guardianship by the courts.

It was inspired by Britney Spears’ conservatorship, with Hart’s character Leigh fighting to release her dad from the clutches of an evil guardian, played by La La Anthony.

Her latest role comes after she played a grandmother in the 2023 movie Would You Kill For Me? The Mary Bailey Story.

Before her rise to fame on the iconic Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Hart starred in the series Clarissa Explains It All, which originally ran from 1991 to 1994.

Hart ruled out an on screen reunion with the original cast of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which included Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick, who played her aunts Hilda and Zelda on the show.

“As much as I had a blast on the show, I think [a reboot] would be over-critiqued,” she told E! News.

“I’ve never really wanted to go back to Sabrina. I just don’t think it would be as great as the original.

“I just don’t think there is any way. People are nostalgic for what they had.

“Trying to recreate that can be really difficult, as we’ve seen.”

Hart made headlines last year after revealing she helped a kindergarten class escape a deadly school shooting.

The Nashville school massacre saw 28-year-old Audrey Hale kill three children and three adults at the private Christian primary school, which is located next door to where Hart’s children go to school.

In a video shared on Instagram, she explained that she had been heading to her children’s school at the time for a teacher-parent conference when she watched the tragedy unfold alongside her husband, musician Mark Wilkerson, 46.

The pair were shocked to see confronting scenes of children trying to escape the school grounds and did all they could to help.

“My husband and I were on our way to school for conferences. Luckily our kids weren’t in today,” she said in the clip.

“We helped a class of Kindergarteners across a busy highway. They were climbing out of the woods, they were trying to escape a shooter situation at their school.”

“So we helped these tiny little kids cross the road and get their teachers over there.”

“We helped a mum reunite with her children and I just … I don’t know what to say. Enough is enough. Just pray, pray for the families.”
